Senior A & R Accountant for Operator Company

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for ensuring all month end, mid-year and year end deliverables, including:
    • preparation of the month end reporting
    • balance sheet reconciliations
    • intergroup reconciliations
    • mismatch investigations
    • consolidation
    • approval and review of journal entries into Finance System
    • manage the fixed asset ledger and undertake month end fixed asset activities
    • inventory control activities
    • conduct regular monitoring of debtors and creditors ledgers
  • Deliver clear and efficient Year End and Interim audits.
  • Create and manage relationships with external auditors
  • Liaise with the Finance Operations team and the wider finance community to assist where necessary with the business reporting requirements ensuring all accounting risks and opportunities are understood and communicated
  • To act in an advisory capacity role in Accounting and Reporting matters, for example advising on significant transactions (e.g. acquisitions, disposals) to ensure they are accurately reflected in the accounting systems and providing ad hoc technical accounting issues arising – helping to drive issues through to resolution
  • Utilise the most appropriate methods of analysis, communication and problem solving to ensure information presented is meaningful and pitched at the right level for the intended audience.
  • Drive an efficient system of internal controls, continually moving controls up the value chain; maintaining financial control through ownership of financial data governance and controls; applying controls framework, and focussing on continuous improvement
  • Support the delivery of the suite of statutory accounts for Company in accordance with relevant local and international requirements (e.g. IFRS, GAAP)
  • Delivery of all financial accounting including judgements and application of Company policy and prevailing accounting standards
  • Enhance, challenge and make relevant recommendations to current working practices, optimising current system hierarchies and workflows

Technical and personal skills

  • Qualified accountant
  • University degree
  • Fluent in Norwegian and English (oral and written)
  • Strong financial and technical accounting skills and knowledge, experience with consolidation of a multi-currency Group based on IFRS;
  • Strong Excel capability – experience of building / re-building models preferred;
  • Influencing skills and ability to challenge senior management
  • Demonstrable record of improving systems and processes;
  • Flexible team player, culturally sensitive and able to adapt management style to accommodate different business environments.
  • Ability to pro-actively develop positive and highly effective working relationships, both internally with senior management and with third parties
