Piping & Layout Engineer for Operator Company

Responsibilities

  • Regulatory and Company compliance.
  • Review the development of the piping/layout premises to ensure that the design is safe, operable and efficient.
  • Review engineering drawings and relevant documents prepared by the design contractor.
  • Selection and evaluation of technology, identifying integration and infrastructure issues.
  • Follow up contractors’ evaluation of technology and provide necessary interface with Operations during design stages.
  • Present proposals and alternative solutions when required.
  • Attend and actively contribute in discipline and inter-discipline technical meetings, including interface meetings.
  • Monitor performance of the design contractor’s Piping/layout design team.
  • Provide engineering support and data of existing facilities to design contractor.
  • Provide input to budgets and planning.
  • Participate in the development of operation, maintenance and start-up philosophies and plans.
  • Participate in the project risk, planning and budget process.
  • Process technical queries and requests for technical deviations.
  • Report technical deviations.
  • Review Management of Change documentation.
  • Coordinate communication with Operations regarding piping/Layout issues.
  • Provide engineering input to procurement process.
  • Participate in relevant Factory Acceptance tests (FAT).
  • Ensure all Piping/Layout project activities are performed in accordance with the Company procedure for work on piping systems on Field.
  • Participate in HAZID and HAZOP meetings.
  • Attend technical audits as requested by Management.
  • Actively support other disciplines to ensure interdisciplinary coherence and experience transfer.

Technical and personal skills

  • MSc. Engineer in Piping/Layout Engineering.
  • Less formal education may be compensated with documented relevant experience.
  • Minimum 5 to 10 years project experience from new platform and topside modification projects.  Understanding of operational and maintenance requirements with regard to platform design. Project Experience from Norwegian North Sea. In depth knowledge of relevant industry codes and standard.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills in English and Norwegian Language.
  • Strong commercial skills and business driver understanding to manage and direct the execution of engineering works and interfaces between contractors.
  • Good interpersonal, networking, and relationship-building skills, both internally to the project and with contractors.
  • Strong commitment to the implementation of Company’s health, safety, environmental and quality philosophies.
  • Experience and ability to work in multi-disciplined teams and interfacing with internal organizations and external Contractor organizations.
