Accountant/Tax Expert for Operator Company

Responsibilities

  • Preparing documents and collecting relevant information, in communication with Oil Tax Office
  • Supporting in day to day activites related to tax, eg monthly tax calculations, responding to various requests from various stakeholders
  • Assisting with preparing the annual tax returns before this is submitted to the Oil Tax Office
  • Support or review other tax calculations or reports when required by “Four eyes principle”
  • Act as discussion partner for Tax Manager; provide details on special tax and accounting issues
  • Collecting data for the transfer price documentation
  • Support in tax planning and tax risk runs
  • Complying with accounting (incl. joint venture accounting) and tax policies and regulations
  • Supporting on day to day accounting activities e.g. cost allocation in accordance with the joint operation agreement, analyzing of key issues, responding to various requests from diverse stakeholders.
  • Assisting and responsible for review and analysis in the month end, quarterly and year end closings
  • Prepare documentation and act as advisor and discussion partner for the accounting team on various ad hoc and accounting issues.
  • Assisting with preparing  the annual Statutory Financial Statements
  • Assisting and preparing financial incoming and outgoing audits (both external and partner audits)
  • Responsible for review of various deliveries from the technical accounting team e.g. reconciliations, statistical reportings to the Norwegian authorities, invoices and other various reportings
  • Participating and supporting project work with varying assignments across the assigned finance discipline.
  • Assist Lead Accountant in various projects related to procedures and systems
  • Responsible for monitoring the internal control systems work program (spot checks, process updates, improvement measures etc.)
  • Support business in SAP related issues, including WBS and GL accounts for PR’s and RFS’s
  • Coordinating chart of authorities in SAP (VIM approval matrix)
  • Aligning proposed accounting treatments with counterparts in Controlling, in the order to manage expectations and contribute to forcasts.
  • Contribute to compliance with issued accounting guidelines and standards.
  • Follow applicable HSSE standards and regulations within the Accounting  & Tax Department

 

Technical and personal skills

  • University Degree Bachelor
  • Professional accountancy qualification(ACCA, CIMA, ACA etc)/MBA/Other similar business qualification 
  • Minimum 2-3 years experience
  • Background in tax consultancy, auditing or accounting (preferably in Upstream industry or audit firm)
  •  Extensive knowledge and understanding of accounting issues (NGAAP, IFRS)
  • Thorough understanding of Norwegian petroleum tax system
  • Detailed understanding of tax and accounting treatment of “section 10 transactions” (NGAAP and IFRS)
  • Familiar with the general JOA used on the NCS and it’s implications for cost allocation principles
  • Computer literate (SAP, MS Office etc.)
  • Ability to understand, set up and follow financial procedures
  • Good analytical skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Understanding ‘accounting’ as a support function in a business that’s rapidly expanding
  • Experience with the upstream oil industry
  • Hands-on, self starter
